A honeymoon should be the most special trip you have ever taken in your life. After all, it’s your first vacation with your spouse after the whole wedding ceremony. While many couples decide to go to the usual honeymoon spots like Paris, Italy, and the Thailand coast, just to name a few, there are some other incredible destinations that are criminally underused.
Don’t get us wrong; there is nothing bad about the ones that we mentioned; they will always be popular honeymoon spots. However, our world has so many more breathtaking places that are ideal for newlyweds. That is why we have prepared three honeymoon suggestions which may not have been on your radar. So, let us begin.
First, we suggest paying a visit to Chile, Atacama Desert to be more precise. Please, stay with us; we know that going to a desert doesn’t sound that thrilling or romantic for a honeymoon. However, Atacama is not an ordinary desert and there is much more to it than just sand. So, if you are of an adventurous spirit, we recommend trying some of these activities.
Taking a hot air balloon ride across the desert is an excellent way to spend a day. You and your spouse will get to see mesmerising sights, plus when will you get another opportunity to ride in a hot air balloon? On the other hand, if you want to get more personal with the desert and experience all that it offers, then you should consider going on a camping trip. You can rent a car and visit all notable spots like Valle del Arcoíris (Rainbow Valley), Laguna Miscanti, Piedras Rojas (Red Rocks), and so on. The best part are the starry nights in the Atacama Desert. As you can see, this suggestion is aimed at couples that are looking for an adventure, rather than sipping on cocktails in the tropical paradise.
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
Speaking of tropical paradises, our next suggestion is just that. If you are looking for a destination with long sandy beaches, palm trees, and overall quality leisure time, then look no further; Grand Cayman Island is the perfect destination for your honeymoon. However, there are many other activities to do on the Cayman Islands, so let’s check out some of the most popular ones.
After a couple of days of sipping cocktails and enjoying the view, all honeymooners should sign up for a scuba diving trip. There are numerous breathtaking spots for diving in Grand Cayman and other surrounding islands. You will get to explore coral reefs, shipwrecks, see beautiful marine life, and much, much more.
Next, you should hike the Mastic Trail. This three-hour trip will take you through the wilderness of the Grand Cayman, where you can see gorgeous wildlife and rare plants. We recommend hiring a guide to get the complete experience. Finally, the Cayman Islands have countless beach bars where you can drink some of the best cocktails in the world. Furthermore, if you two wish to go for a night out, Grand Cayman has excellent bars and clubs.
Our final suggestion is the sacred rock Uluru in Australia. Of course, we are not saying that you should just visit this rock formation. Instead, you should organise your trip around this unique place. Even though you won’t be able to climb it because the Pitjantjatjara Anangu, Aboriginal people of Central Australia, consider this place sacred, you will get to do a ton of other activities.
For example, you can take a camel tour around this area. This is an excellent way to sightsee numerous springs, waterholes, ancient paintings, and wildlife around Uluru.
Another incredible activity that is not available anywhere else in the world is the Sound of Silence experience. This tour includes dining under the stars right next to this sacred rock while a storyteller shares stories from the Aboriginal folklore. You will get to eat traditional Australian cuisine and get a nice introduction to the natives’ way of living.
Additionally, if your spouse is an artistic soul, you can treat them with an Anangu art course. This unique way of painting will stay with them forever, and make your honeymoon that much more memorable.
As you can see, our suggestions are quite different from the go-to spots like Paris. However, if you are looking for something different, something more exotic for your honeymoon, then consider any of these three destinations. Trust us; you and your spouse won’t be disappointed.
