Best Travel Gadgets for Backpackers & Digital Nomads

People always wonder what travel gear I use when travelling.  Since I am travelling full-time for most of this year I wanted to do an update and show you guys what’s in my ‘suitcase’.  I travel light, for now, nothing too complicated, but what I use works very well for me and will work for people that are conscious about the weight of their bags.  Here’s a list of the best travel gadgets for backpackers and digital nomads.

Asus Zenbook UX310U Laptop

I travelled with a HUGE and heavy Toshiba laptop for the last few years.  Off the back of that experience (see what I did there?), I decided it was time to upgrade to a lighter laptop as soon as I travel so much.  I know most other travel bloggers travel with a MacBook, but for me, at the moment I didn’t want to spend that amount of money.  This laptop is perfect for anyone who is travelling and is fast enough and does everything I need to do as a travel blogger too.  I couldn’t recommend this laptop enough!   To check the latest prices and availability, click here!

Laptop Case

This was a real bargain for a case of this quality.  It is well-padded so it’s perfect for me when I know my bag is going to be chucked around a bit.  It comes in a range of colours including black, purple and grey.  It is also splash and shock resistant!  To check the latest prices and availability, click here!

GoPro 3 + hero

I brought this GoPro last year and it was a fantastic buy.  Go pros are great if you’re travelling to tropical countries so you can capture and record your holiday even when in the water (with a waterproof case).  For me as a travel blogger I love capturing short clips and experimenting with video as it’s something I would like to get into the near future.  The GoPro lens is very wide so it takes fantastic landscape shots!  To check the latest prices and availability, click here!

GoPro accessories

There are some amazing add-ons that you can purchase to make your Go-Pros experience the best it can be.  I found an awesome kit online (not official GoPro by the way).  My favourite accessories are the floatie (so our GoPro doesn’t sink if it gets dropped in the water) and the clip on (clips to anything!).  To check the latest prices and availability, click here!

GoPro Telescopic Pole

Why didn’t I buy this earlier??!  I have now upgraded my rusty selfie pole to what I call ‘expert selfie pole status’.  This is incredible for travel bloggers and for solo travellers because not only is it a sturdy selfie pole but also a tripod.  Yup, that’s right.  This is how you can get your fantastic pictures without a huge pole crashing the picture.  It’s absolutely genius, right?  This is one of the best travel gadgets for backpackers and people who love to take pictures!  To check the latest prices and availability, click here!

Canon 1300D

Finally, my old Nikon D50 reached the end of its life so I upgraded to a Canon, which has video capabilities too – unlike my old Nikon.  There wasn’t really a real reason why I swapped from Nikon to Canon, I just really liked this camera and its features, plus the black Friday special may have had something to do with it as well…  I do like a bargain, let’s be honest here.  To check the latest prices and availability, click here!

Camera strap

This is not a newcomer in my travel bag but I really wanted to include this as it’s such a great item if you have a DSLR camera.  I hate the neck straps.  They hurt, they make my neck look weird and they are too damn short, so I purchased a long strap which screws onto my camera so it sits on my hip instead.  I find these straps much more comfortable and safer to stick my camera to whilst travelling. \Best Travel Gadgets for Backpackers & Digital Nomads

Travel cubes

I love travel cubes because it’s just so much easier than searching for an item of clothing that could be scattered anywhere throughout your bag. This way I separate my clothing like tops, shorts, pants, underwear and jerseys plus I also have a laundry bag too.  Please don’t tease me.  I know I am an organisational freak but I know some of you are too, which is why I recommend these!  To check the latest prices and availability, click here!

Kathmandu vacuum bag

My favourite brand, hands down, is Kathmandu.  Their gear lasts and is practical for travellers.  I use my vacuum bag to keep clothes I may not need or bulky jumpers.  As I usually travel to multiple countries at a time I usually pack winter and summer items so this is great to pack my bulky winter clothes.  To check the latest prices and availability, click here!
