Holiday Canada: 5 Reasons to Visit Canada

Holiday Canada: 5 Reasons to Visit Canada

As the World’s second largest country, by size, Canada can offer the most diverse range of options to all types of traveller and holidaymaker. Whether you are searching for a holiday of sports and high-octane activity, adventure and discovery, or simply a relaxing break with the family, Canada has absolutely everything!

It’s certainly worth taking the time to briefly look at some of the best places and activities that this vast country can offer.  Here is 5 reasons visit Canada!

Holiday Canada: 5 Reasons to Visit Canada

1. Niagara Falls

Canada can’t be discussed as a tourist destination without mentioning the world-famous Niagara Falls. The natural power of this awesome sight is something that will etch into any visitor’s memory for a lifetime. Enjoy the spectacle of over 170,000 cubic metres of water by helicopter, boat, or simply from the safety of dry land!

2. Montreal

Fabulously cosmopolitan, with a sprinkling of both North America and France in the same chic package. Montreal is a great place to experience quirky old cobbled streets and a bohemian environment. Canada’s second largest city is a stylish and elegant wonder of modern civilization.  With French as an official language, it’s a great destination to dust off the old French language books and get practising for!  Good news for vegans too as Montreal has a bunch of great vegan restaurants to choose from throughout the city.  For the latest prices and availability for accommodation in Montreal click here!

3. Twillingate Islands

For lovers of nature and the great outdoors, Twillingate island is a destination of pure majesty. As a small island in the North Atlantic, just off the coast of Newfoundland, it’s within easy reach for most holidaymakers to the area. Visit between May and August to see huge broken icebergs as big as a building. Here, you can also see mesmerising sea creatures such as whales and dolphins.

4. The Northern Lights

Aurora Borealis, otherwise known as the Northern Lights, is a breathtaking quirk of nature. These colourful and awe-inspiring lights in the sky are visible from the vast frozen North, often accessible by dogsled or short flight. As a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, this is a great place to take the family and well worth the cost of flights and some family travel insurance (Just in case the sledge breaks down!).

5. Delicious Delicacies

Like its American neighbour, Canada and her people love to experience delicious and unique delicacies native to their own homeland. For those who choose to take a holiday here, there are a couple of dishes that just have to be tasted. The Montreal smoked meat sandwich is a Canadian classic of smoked, spiced beef served on rye bread and smothered in hot yellow mustard. Secondly, the Nova Scotia donair is a popular street snack, often served late at night. A little like one of our British-style kebabs, the donair consists of a moist pitta containing spicy ground beef and delicious Canadian salad – an absolute must!

So, there we have it. The second largest country on the planet has just about everything to suit any traveller. If you’re looking for a cosmopolitan, and visually stunning alternative to your usual holiday destinations, then look no further than this vast and vibrant country in the North Atlantic.

My husband and I ARE making a trip to Canada next year. For sure. But we just can’t settle in on where exactly. I don’t know if we’ll end up in Whistler or Vancouver, BC, Lake Louise, Quebec, Montreal or Toronto. And a good friend tells me I shouldn’t miss Manitoba. But your post has just convinced me that wherever we go, we’re going to enjoy it!

I also heard yesterday that in 2017 every single national park in Canada will be free entry for the entire year. The entire year! That is reason enough to make a swing through next year for sure!

Canada is definitely on my list for 2017. I’ve been traveling for so long and I’ve never made it to my neighbor to the North.

This seems to be an ideal plan! So well enumerated and detailed plan of destinations.
All the remains is booking tickets and packing bags.

We are visiting Canada for the first time this coming summer and I cannot wait! We are actually taking a train all the way from Halifax to Vancouver and making a detour to Churchill to (hopefully) see polar bears and beluga whales… so we will be seeing a lot of this amazing country! Cannot wait!
