The Coolest Hangout In London – Ziferblat

Last Updated on September 1, 2017

The coolest hangout in London www.anitahendrieka.com travel-blog

Last week I discovered a retro and cool place to ‘hangout’ if you are around in Shoreditch, London.  It’s called Ziferblat and it has a bizarre and unique concept.  It’s kind of like going to a café except you don’t pay for the food or the drink. Intrigued?  Read on…

Hidden away in a corner of Shoreditch, lies the epic chill out spot.  It is located on Old Street but this is not the only one in the country nor the world!   There are Zifeblats located in Manchester, Liverpool and all over Europe.  The idea came from a man called Ivan who wanted to make a ‘tree house for adults’ in Moscow.  Ziferblat became a little community of poets who wanted to share their work but then quickly became over populated so the decision to extend the family began!

It is somewhere you can treat as your home, make yourself cups of tea and coffee and eat biscuits and cakes!   Instead of the normal ‘paying for whatever you put into your mouth’ you pay for your time instead.  “Everything is free inside; Except for the time you spend”.   You pay a mere 5p per minute and your donations goes towards extending the Ziferblat idea!

You can even volunteer there and every hour you work you get 2 hours back.  I can’t help relating it to something out of the movie ‘In time’.  It’s worth going just to see the amazing interior design.  It’s literally like your stepping into someone’s house in the 70’s.

How to find them?  Ziferblat, London is about a 10 minute walk from either Shoreditch High street or Hoxton station.  Easy as!

If you want cheap accommodation in London or all around the world make sure you check out Agoda or Hostelworld, they have amazing deals.  Booking.com is also a great website to use to find a play to stay.  Do you want free accommodation?   Then read this!
