5 Reasons Why You Should Visit Tenerife

5 Reasons Why You Should Visit Tenerife

Everyone has different reasons for travelling, but when it comes to islands like Tenerife, you don’t need one. This Canary Island is exquisite. But just in case you’re still sitting on the fence, here are five reasons that might just twist your arm and get you on a flight to visit Tenerife.

1. Teide National Park

How can you resist scenery like the Teide National Park? This national park is a place for adventure and is home to perhaps the most iconic part of Tenerife: Mount Teide. The volcanic crater is 10 miles wide and the volcano itself stands at a towering 3, 718 metres. Thankfully, you don’t have to climb it to appreciate the views, if you don’t wish to; you can take an 8-minute cable car ride will which carry you 1,200 metres above the crater floor and allow you to just take in the scenery.

2. The beaches

Visitors to Tenerife flock to areas like Playa de las Américas, where the waters are absolutely perfect for bathing, and Playa del Duque, in Costa Adeje, which flies the Blue Flag with pride. The beaches of Costa Adeje also give the backdrop of the mountains while you laze on the sand. There’s no better place to relax and feel as if you’ve gotten away from it all.

3. Siam Park

Located in Costa Adeje, this water park is the biggest theme park in Tenerife. Water slides like the white-knuckle Tower of Power, the Dragon and the Mekong Rapids make the attraction a place to experience some adrenaline-pumping thrills out in the sun. Alternatively, you can just drift along the Mai Thai river in a rubber dinghy for a more leisurely experience. Either way, this Thai-themed park adds to the appeal and excitement of Tenerife as a holiday destination.

4. Perfect for hiking

The Anaga Mountains are one of the island’s other spots of natural beauty.  Possibly one of the greenest spots on the whole island. You can embark on an amazing hike from Cruz del Carmen through to Punta del Hidalgo. This part of Tenerife has hardly been touched by tourism, which enables you to experience and visit Tenerife at its finest. You’ll cross through a rainforest which has existed since even before the Ice Age and walk along paths that take you around ravines. It’s a real pleasure walking through this part of Tenerife.

5. Seeing ‘the giants’

Los Gigantes sits on the west coast of Tenerife and is famous for its giant cliffs, after which Los Gigantes itself is named. The cliffs offer this tranquil resort town shelter from the winds and make for a fine picture if you have a camera handy. This is especially the case at sunset. The Marina is calm and is filled with the small yachts and speedboats of visitors enjoying the waters of this part of Tenerife.

Simply expressed, Tenerife is a fantastic place for a holiday. Bursting with sunshine and blessed with natural scenic beauty, you should definitely place it on your bucket list.  Visit Tenerife as soon as possible!
