Best Places to Stay in Tirana: Where I’d Actually Book

I used to point people towards big hotel chains when they asked me where to stay in Tirana without thinking too hard about it, and then I actually stayed in a run of apartments across the city and realised that’s not where I’d put my own money at all.

Most of what I’d genuinely recommend in Tirana now is apartments, not hotels, and that’s a deliberate shift, not an oversight.

If you’re deciding between a hotel and an apartment for your stay, or just want to know which neighbourhood to base yourself in, I’m breaking down exactly where I’ve stayed, what I loved, and what I’d warn you about first.

Quick Answer: Where to Stay in Tirana

⭐⭐⭐ My top pick? Harmony Apartment Center, the place I’d choose again without hesitation. Check prices & availability →

⭐⭐ Best area? Central Tirana, close enough to walk to Skanderbeg Square and Blloku, without paying Blloku prices.

⭐ What should you book? The cooking class with Sindi, which I absolutely loved. Check availability →

1. Harmony Apartment Center

This is the one I’d book again without thinking twice.

It’s an easy option straight off the airport into the city, too.

I stayed here for 4 to 5 days and it ended up being one of my favourite places I’ve stayed in Tirana, full stop.

The location is excellent, central enough to walk pretty much everywhere, and it comes with a genuinely good view, which isn’t something every city apartment can promise. It’s a good base for ticking off things to do on foot, especially if you’re only doing 3 days in Tirana and want to stay central, with plenty of good restaurants within easy walking distance.

It’s a good size for two people, which makes it a solid choice if you’re working remotely and need actual space to spread out during the day.

There’s a washing machine and everything else you’d need for a longer stay, so it works well beyond just a couple of nights.

💡 Top tip: it sits right next to a school, so weekday mornings can get a bit noisy, ask for a room away from the street side if that matters to you.

2. Siara Apartments City Center

Bedroom at Siara Apartments City Center, Tirana

I also stayed here for 4 to 5 days, in a completely different part of the city to Harmony, and it’s a good local neighbourhood, about a 5 minute walk from the mosque.

The kitchen is genuinely good, there’s a washing machine, and it’s got everything you need, at a pretty affordable rate for what you get.

With two bedrooms, it’s a solid option for a small family or a couple of friends travelling together rather than a solo trip.

I have to be upfront about two things though.

There’s no working lift, so factor that in if you’re not keen on stairs with luggage.

And one of the bedrooms has a see-through door, which is worth knowing in advance if you’re travelling with friends rather than a partner, you’ll want everyone comfortable with that before booking.

3. Mrizi i Zanave Guesthouse Tirana

I haven’t personally stayed at this one, but it made my updated list because of the reputation behind the name.

Mrizi i Zanave is known across Albania as a proper farm-to-table concept, and this guesthouse carries the same slow, rural style into a Tirana stay.

I visited their restaurant in Lezhë which is a very popular place for foodies. If you’re into hands-on food experiences, the Tirana cooking class is worth booking while you’re in the city.

If you want something a bit different from a standard city apartment, this is the one on this list I’d research further before booking, and it pairs well with a day tour out of the city if you want a night away to go with it.

    4. Vila 101

Another one I added to the list without having stayed there myself yet.

It’s a smaller, villa-style property rather than a big hotel block, which tends to suit people who want a quieter stay, and it works well as a base if you’re planning any day trips out of Tirana.

    5. Opera Hotel

If you want a proper hotel rather than an apartment, Opera Hotel is one of the two on this list I’d actually point you to.

It’s centrally located, within easy walking distance of some of the best bars in Tirana, and a reliable, straightforward choice if you’d rather have hotel staff and services on hand than self-catering.

🏰 Petrela Castle & Black Cave Hike with Local Lunch: Pick this one if you want to escape the city for a few hours. Rated 4.9 from over 550 reviews. Check availability →

    6. Rogner Europark

This is the fancy option on the list, a proper hotel sitting right by one of Tirana’s parks.

If you want a bit of polish and don’t mind paying more for it, this is where I’d point you over the apartments above.

It’s right next to the park and centrally located.

I haven’t personally stayed here but wanted to include it to give you an option if you prefer more luxury.

    7. Center Tirana Apartment

This one’s specifically great for families, with more space than a typical hotel room and a central location that keeps you close to the main sights.

If you’re travelling with kids and want room to actually spread out in the evenings, this is the pick on this list built for that.

My Number One Tip: Hire a Car for Full Flexibility

If you’re staying a few nights, Tirana is a great base, but the rest of Albania is much easier with your own wheels. Petrela Castle, Kruja and Durrës are all easy day trips.

Final Thoughts on Where to Stay in Tirana

Most of what’s worth doing in the evenings, from Blloku‘s restaurants and bars to a stroll around Skanderbeg Square, is within easy reach of most of these picks.

Two apartments I’d book again without hesitation, one guesthouse and one villa worth a proper look, and two solid hotels if apartment living isn’t your thing.

When you’re deciding where to stay in Tirana, picking the right area matters as much as picking the building, and Tirana’s neighbourhoods are different enough that it’s worth a proper look before you book anything, since prices and availability shift with the time of year too.

Once you’ve got a base sorted, Tirana is genuinely safe enough that a first solo trip here shouldn’t worry you.

Once you’ve sorted where to stay in Tirana, the next step is mapping out your days around it, or deciding whether the capital’s worth the time at all in the first place.
